Biography

Jonathan Harris, ChFC®

My father was a primary care physician who privately practiced in Northern Rhode Island. I grew up watching the connection he had with his patients and that level of trust and caring resonated with me. I knew medicine wasn’t for me but I was excelling in economics and finance and decided to pursue my strengths in that industry. Now that I have my own practice, I like to think I have the same connection with my clients that my father had with his patients.

I entered the investment business in 1989 working for The Equitable, becoming a Regional Manager in 1994. I established Black Point Wealth Management, Inc. in 1999 and am currently Managing Director of the firm. I understand that in this business, you need to have a holistic view of your client’s life in order to best plan for their future and find the right investment strategy suitable for their long-term plans.

I am a chairman of the Portsmouth Pension Oversight Committee and former Vice Chair for the Portsmouth School Committee. I coached lacrosse for Portsmouth Youth Lacrosse for 8 years while my boys were in the league. I love being able to help in community organizations where I can lend a hand.

I live in in Portsmouth, Rhode Island with my wife, Elizabeth, and our two children, Nate and Langdon. Elizabeth is an English teacher in a public high school in Rhode Island and has a singing voice that would put most American Idols to shame.

Both of my sons are showing an interest in the finance business and I am putting them to work! They are both coming in and helping with entry-level assignments around the office. I’m sure you know that kids of their generation are skillful with technology, but we are teaching them communications, people-skills and business organization. Let’s just say it’s a symbiotic relationship. Who knows, after college, the Harris boys may have a bigger role here.

Daniel Beaudette, CRPC®

After graduating from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in finance and management, I started my own business as the president of a franchised video rental store, which became Blockbuster Video. For over 22 years, my team and I grew that store into a six-store chain in southeastern Massachusetts. After realizing the needs of my employees and other small business owners, I transitioned into the financial services industry to help these individuals create, implement, and monitor their financial plans.

Dan’s acquired industry registrations, certifications, and appointments include:

  • Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC)
  • General Securities Registered Representative (FINRA Series 7)*
  • NASAA Uniform Combined State Law (FINRA Series 66)*
  • Investment Adviser Representative*
  • Life, Health & Variable Life Insurance License

*Through Commonwealth Financial Network, Member FINRA/SIPC, a Registered Investment Adviser.

I have lived in Rhode Island my entire life. After several years at a national brokerage firm in Providence, I made the “big move” from the Blackstone Valley to Aquidneck Island to join Black Point Wealth Management in December 2012. I am now one of the happy residents of the beautiful island of Jamestown.

My wife, Estelle, and I met in the fourth grade, and we have two daughters. Lauren followed me into the world of finance, and works for a private equity firm in San Francisco. Nicole followed me to URI, where she recently graduated as a pharmacist. I couldn’t be prouder of all they have accomplished!

During my free time, I volunteer as president of the local alumni housing corporation at URI’s Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, where I mentor undergraduate students. For over six years, I have participated in Big Brothers of RI. I truly hope my mentee, Noah, has gained as much as I have from our relationship. I like to golf, but golf doesn’t always like me! I am a member at Pawtucket Country Club. This year, I began “running.” I use the term loosely…more like jogging. But I’ve completed three half-marathons! Can a full marathon be in the future? I’ll keep you posted.

My team and I are excited to meet with you to decide if we are a good fit! We will explain our strategies, discuss the factors involved with managing risk, and review the expense for our guidance. If you are interested in discussing your financial goals with us, please contact me directly at (401) 264-4004, or email at dbeaudette@bpwealthmgt.com.
